Donna McDermott of Eyja Hunda Icelandics

Donna lived in Iceland as a young person, while there her father brought a lovely little dog home for the family. Perla fra Olafsvollum was from the kennel of Sigridur Petersdottir, the woman who saved the Icelandic sheepdog from extinction.

Perla was a treasured member of the family, so much so, that as an adult Donna began her search for a dog that might be just like Perla. Her search led her to Pineridge Icelandics where she found Pineridge Kolperla, a direct descendant of her original Perla. Donna was lucky to have been able to catch the Icelandic Sheepdog bug so early!
Brynhildur Inga Einarsdottir and Reykjadals Kennel

We have been so lucky to meet such wonderful people because of our involvement with the Icelandic Sheepdog and Brynhildur Inga is one of those fabulous folks. Brynhildur is an incredible photographer, potter, fiber artist and has been a wonderful friend to Icelandic Sheepdog owners in the U.S. sharing her knowledge of ISD history with us so that we can keep the Icelandic Sheepdog true to it's Icelandic Roots.

Living in Selfoss, Iceland with her beautiful Icelandic Sheepdogs Töfra Hólmfríður Hrifla, Reykjadals Varða, Sunnusteins Sif,and the handsome Reykjadals Móri; Brynhildur Inga breeds wonderful dogs who are capable of anything you can throw at them herding, conformation, tracking, obedience or most importantly companionship!

Pineridge Kolperla as an absolutely adorable puppy.  How couldn't you fall in love with that face?  I wonder if little Kol knew then that she was destined to be an over acheiver!

Tofra Homfrildur Hrifla and Thordunu Sera Somi

Brynhildur Inga is expecting a super litter from her Hrifla and our Elsie's half brother Thordunu Sera Somi in early summer 2008.  They will be a beautiful classic type of Icelandic Sheepdog, all black Tri-colors; one or two will carry the chocolate gene from Sera Somi.  Boy are these two dogs put together well!

Donna and Kol have become quite a team, they are active in obedience, agility and conformation.  Donna is the Icelandic Sheepdog Association of America's titles chairman, keeping track of all of Icelandics events and titles.  Keeping the rest of us informed of everybody's accomplishments so we all can cheerlead from the sidelines.

 Varda

While on the farm Brynhildur's puppies start their socialization experiences early.  Here young Reykjadal's Varda is getting acquainted with her flock.  Puppies starting out with Brynhildur get a fabulous beginning; Brynhildur teaches at an obedience school where she has several  puppy classes under her direction.  Talk about being "the teachers pet"!

Donna and Kol have worked very hard together and that hard work has paid off.  Kol at barely a year old has earned herself the AKC title of Canine Good Citizen in obedience.  Her next challenge will be the conformation ring and the agility course.

Good luck Kol and Donna, we're all rooting for you!

Stay tuned Donna is looking for a wonderful guy for pretty little Kol when she is finally old enough to breed.

Brynhildur Inga's Gang

All smiles here in her home in Iceland where they get to run in the snow, play in the rivers and streams and run through the rugged terrain of their forefathers!  Not to mention they get to live with Brynhildur!
