The Viking Kennel Family
I would like to introduce you to Elisabet Stacy-Hurley, Bob Hurley and their Viking Icelandic Sheepdogs. Elisabet and Bob have been raising Icelandic Sheepdogs in their Boonsboro, Maryland home longer than most anyone here in the U.S. We are delighted to have two of their dogs as our first Icelandic Sheepdogs. They have shared their passion for these dogs with many of us across the the country. Their home raised puppies have a wonderful start in life with this loving Icelandic Sheepdog family. We are so thankful to Elisabet and Bob for our Hippi and Lilja. Asa Grima The girl who started it all for Elisabet and Bob, a gift from Johanna Hardard, Elisabet's cousin in Iceland. Grima inspired a passion for the breed and the desire to see the Icelandic Sheepdog thrive here in the United States. I know Grima won Jon's heart over as well and convinced him that these were the dogs for us too. She's a charmer.

Virkis Tyri Tyri came next, he is a handsome gentleman who has gone on to sire many litters here in the United States. I am so happy that Hippi and Lilja are his Grandkids.

Istolt Aska Is Tyri's daughter and our Hippi and Lilja's Mom. Aska is just the sweetest girl and has passed on her very kind and gentle disposition to them. Our Hippi looks just like his Mom too!

Viking Vargur Hippi and Lilja's handsome brother, he has gone on to be a stud dog in Canada and has been the sire of several litters.

Viking Gaela Gaela is Hippi and Lil's little sister, she lives in Virginia with Viking Spathass. Here she is swimming in the stream on a recent visit back to Viking Kennel.

Viking Leika Eyglo Leika Eyglo is Hippi and Lilja's sister who has gone to live in Idaho. As you can see even in the same litter there are different coat colors, lengths and looks between the littermates. I think that is one of the most fabulous things in this breed, each one is such an individual, just like people!

Viking Gothi Gothi and Hippi were best pals as puppies, Liz said they were always escaping from their little puppy pen in the house as puppies. Gothi now lives in Damascus, Maryland

Viking Koko Koko is the son of Viking Bjork. A very handsome guy who is a very red-gold and has a gorgeous coat. Koko is genetically brown, one of the ingredients needed for the seldom seen chocolate color in the Icelandic Sheepdog.

Viking Bjork Bjork is the daughter of Viking Freya and mother of Viking Koko. She sure is a beauty, just look at that coat and color!
